Living A Sensory Life

Movement of the week:

Standing Practice

I filmed this one mid way through a long walk.

(take more time for intro and outro rituals, friends)

It's 20 minute follow-along that will leave you feeling centred, grounded and relaxed.

It'll warm up your feet and hands too, which is great if you're heading into cooler months.

Below is a process you can use to explore practices like this more deeply.
The longer you spend on the earlier steps, the better.
If the next step doesn't make sense, spend more time exploring the earlier steps.

  1. Notice the skin

  2. Release the muscles

  3. Notice the bones

  4. De-bind the layers

  5. Access the fascia

  6. Sense life as you breathe

  7. Saturate yourself in the space

These are sign posts, not instructions (obviously).

Sometimes it's more interesting to see where you end up without the instructions. 🌀

Insight of the week:

Nature (that's you) cannot be rushed, no matter how much we try.

If you want to live a musical life (a tune), spending time observing natural phenomena is a great way to remember and embrace the rhythms and phrases within your development.

You don't always have to go out into the forest, ocean or mountains (sometimes you do).

You can also stay right where you are, and realise your own nature.

Heartbeat.

Breaths.

The cadence of your gait cycle.

Unique rhythms.

You are 1/1.

Highlight of the week:

Experiencing deep levels of honesty, connection and trust within the Baseline group coaching calls.

My favourite people to be around at the moment are those who can speak candidly, with an open heart, leading the way rather than expecting others to open up first.

In facilitating this group, I'm reminded that it's my job to set the tone.

When I'm true to myself, my actions create resonance with others who also seek this truth.

Whatever you choose, you will be met there... so choose wisely.

This week, choosing wisely has meant taking time to sense more.

I walk for a good while, then I find a spot to stand for a good while, then I sit for a good while.

It's being in touch with the world and making sense of things that keeps us grounded in reality.

Thinking is overrated. It's slow and clunky.

Living through thoughts is like wearing a condom over your face.

I'll leave that one to... marinate with you.

Love,

Jack
